Law Awareness Meets Humanity: 38 Units of Blood Collected at DLSA Camp in Nuapada

Nuapada, August 25: A legal awareness programme and voluntary blood donation camp were organised under the aegis of the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Nuapada, at the District Bar Association Hall on Tuesday. The programme brought together members of the judiciary, legal fraternity, CRPF personnel, medical professionals, students and social workers to spread awareness about important legal provisions while promoting the noble cause of voluntary blood donation. The awareness programme focused on several important subjects, including the translation of Supreme Court judgments from English into regional languages through Artificial Intelligence and the Supreme Court's “Su-Shaas” software, the Odisha High Court Virtual Court Rules, 2025, the Alternative Dispute Resolution provisions under the Civil Procedure framework, mediation-related provisions and the Pre-Conception and Pre-Natal Diagnostic Techniques (PCPNDT) Act, 1994. District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of DLSA, Nuapada, Samar Bilas Behera, Chief Judicial Magistrate Sushant Kumar Mishra, Senior Civil Judge Durbasa Durga, DLSA Secretary Navanita Dash, Senior Civil Judge (Women’s Court) Sarojini Sahu, SDJM Snataki Dash and Judicial Magistrate Kahnu Kisku were among those present at the programme. Principal of Mahamaya Law College, Dr. Anil Kumar Tandi, Commandant of the 216 CRPF Battalion Kuldeep Jain, Deputy Commandant of the 19 CRPF Battalion Anil Prasad Yedla, senior advocates Prasanna Padhi, Setram Dewangan and Trilok Chandra Soni, Legal Services Defence Counsel Prakash Senapati, and Para-Legal Volunteers also participated in the programme and deliberated on various legal issues. Senior Gynaecologist and Obstetrician Dr. Bidyadhar Nag, along with officials from the Health Department, sensitised students about the legal provisions relating to sex determination and the importance of preventing misuse of diagnostic techniques. The participants were also encouraged to understand the legal and social consequences associated with violations of the PCPNDT Act. A voluntary blood donation camp was organised as part of the programme, receiving an encouraging response from participants. A total of 38 units of blood were collected during the camp. Members of the Brahma Kumari organisation, including Sisters Anjali and Anita, along with Ashok Nayak, noted blood donor Kishore Kumar Parida, social worker Rachana Jain and others remained present and encouraged the donors for their valuable contribution. The programme concluded with the administration of the “Nasha Mukt Bharat” (Drug-Free India) pledge by members of the Nuapada Brahma Kumari organisation. The initiative combined legal literacy, public awareness, humanitarian service and social responsibility, sending out a strong message about the importance of both legal empowerment and community participation.
