Sinapali, August 23: A door-to-door leprosy detection and awareness campaign is currently underway in the Sinapali area with the objective of identifying cases at an early stage, ensuring timely treatment and creating a leprosy-free community.
The campaign, being conducted from August 17 to August 31, involves ASHA workers, health workers and health inspectors who are visiting households across the area to conduct surveys and spread awareness about leprosy.
During the campaign, health workers are educating people about the importance of early detection and timely treatment. They are also encouraging residents not to hide or ignore suspicious symptoms and to seek medical attention at the earliest.
To make the awareness campaign more effective and reach a wider section of society, Health Inspector Dhableswar Meher has been creating awareness through songs and videos. His efforts aim to convey important messages about leprosy in a simple and engaging manner.
Angadram Majhi, Public Health Extension Officer, Community Health Centre, Sinapali, has also been extending his cooperation towards the awareness initiative.
Health officials have urged people to actively cooperate with the door-to-door survey and provide correct information to the health workers. Early identification and proper treatment can help prevent complications and transmission, while also reducing the stigma associated with the disease.
The ongoing initiative reflects the health department’s continued efforts to make the Sinapali area free from leprosy through early detection, treatment, community participation and sustained public awareness.
