From Border Duty to Homecoming: Nangalbodh Welcomes Its Braveheart with Pride and Honour

After dedicating 23 valuable years of his life to the service of the nation and protecting the motherland, Atabal Majhi, the brave son of Nangalbodh village under Sinapali Block, returned to his native place after retirement. The villagers welcomed him with great enthusiasm and accorded him a grand felicitation. The occasion was not merely a welcome ceremony for a retired soldier, but a heartfelt expression of gratitude and respect towards a brave son who sacrificed his youth and career for the security of the country. Atabal Majhi, son of late Chaitu Majhi, joined the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) on 22 March 2003. He was initially posted at Ranchi in Jharkhand. Later, he served in various sensitive locations across the country, including the 181 Battalion, Srinagar, where he performed his duties with utmost dedication, courage and discipline. After completing a glorious 23-year-long service career, Atabal Majhi retired from the CRPF on 31 July 2026. As soon as the news of his return to his village spread, a festive atmosphere prevailed in Nangalbodh and nearby areas. A grand procession was organised from the Old Seva Ashram Square, which passed through the main streets of the village. The entire atmosphere echoed with the beats of drums, traditional musical instruments, flower garlands, applause and patriotic slogans like “Bharat Mata Ki Jai.” Villagers welcomed their brave son with flower showers and brought him home with great honour and respect. A felicitation programme was organised on the occasion, where prominent personalities including social worker Dadu Khan, Yishuram Baitharu, Khageswar Majhi, Dingar Majhi, Nirakar Sahu, Nepal Majhi, Irfan Khan, Imran Khan, Jagaman Majhi, Kshirasindhu Majhi and Sultan Khan honoured Atabal Majhi by presenting him with bouquets, traditional shawls and mementoes. The presence of his classmates, relatives, friends and hundreds of villagers added grandeur to the memorable event. Atabal Majhi’s 23 years of dedicated service to the nation stand as a shining example that sacrifices made for the motherland never go in vain. The honour he received in his birthplace is not only a matter of personal pride for him but also a moment of glory for the entire Nuapada district. His courage, discipline and commitment towards duty will continue to inspire the younger generation and remain a symbol of patriotism and devotion towards the nation.
