CMO Forwards ODMM Complaint Against Kuarmunda Liquor Shop to Sundargarh Excise Superintendent
Bhubaneswar/Rourkela: 16 July 2026: The complaint filed by the Odisha Digital Media Mahasangha (ODMM) seeking the closure and relocation of the IMFL Off Shop at Kuarmunda under Sundargarh district has officially moved forward in the Odisha Government's grievance redressal system. According to the complaint status available on the Chief Minister's Grievance Portal, Ticket No. CMO20261668611 was registered in the Office of the Chief Minister on 13 July 2026. On 15 July 2026, the matter was forwarded to the Excise Commissioner, who subsequently transferred it to the Superintendent of Excise, Sundargarh for necessary action. The complaint is currently marked as "Under Process" and is awaiting further action from the district excise authorities. ODMM had earlier demanded the immediate closure and relocation of the liquor outlet, alleging that it is situated close to an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS), an Anganwadi Centre, and a temple, raising concerns over public safety and the welfare of students and local residents. The organization welcomed the government's prompt forwarding of the complaint and expressed hope that the district administration would conduct a fair inquiry and take appropriate action in the larger public interest.
