Swagat Public School Organises Tree Plantation Drive, Inspires Students to Protect the Environment

Komna, July 11: Swagat Public School, located at Lakhana village under Komna Block of Nuapada district, organised a large-scale tree plantation programme on Saturday to promote environmental awareness and encourage sustainable living among students. The plantation drive was held on the school campus with enthusiastic participation from the school Director, teachers, and students, who planted a variety of saplings as part of the initiative. The programme aimed to instill a sense of environmental responsibility among young learners and highlight the importance of preserving nature. Addressing the gathering, the speakers emphasised that trees are invaluable to human life as they provide oxygen, shade, fruits, medicinal benefits, and help maintain ecological balance. They also expressed concern over increasing deforestation, pollution, and climate change, stressing that every citizen has a responsibility to plant and protect trees. School Director Narendra Nag said, “Planting a tree today means creating a healthier, greener, and more sustainable future for the coming generations. Protecting the environment is not only the government’s responsibility but also the moral duty of every individual.” He encouraged every student to plant at least one tree each year and nurture it with care. On the occasion, students took a pledge to safeguard the environment by raising the slogan, “Plant a Tree Today, Build a Greener Tomorrow.” They also resolved to reduce the use of plastic, conserve water and electricity, keep their surroundings clean, and actively participate in tree plantation activities. Teachers Smita Bishi, Babli Das, Nageswari Tiwari, and Meena Nial, along with other faculty members, actively supported the successful conduct of the programme. The initiative not only strengthened environmental awareness among students but also conveyed a strong message to society about the importance of collective efforts in building a greener and more sustainable future.
