Motorcyclist Killed in Head-On Collision with Car on NH-353 Near Kurumpuri

Nuapada, 09/07 A tragic road accident on National Highway-353 near the Kurumpuri Goat Market under Lakhna Police Station in Nuapada district claimed the life of a motorcyclist on Saturday, casting a pall of gloom over the locality. According to reports, a Swift Dzire car travelling towards Nuapada collided head-on with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction. The impact of the collision was so severe that the motorcyclist died on the spot. The deceased has been identified as Bisham Majhi, a resident of Samarsing village. In accordance with IT Rules and respecting the dignity and privacy of the deceased, his photograph has not been published. Following the accident, the driver of the car and the other occupants reportedly fled the scene before police arrived. On receiving information, Lakhna Police rushed to the accident site, recovered the body, and sent it to the District Headquarters Hospital, Nuapada, for post-mortem examination. After the completion of the legal formalities, the body was handed over to the bereaved family. Police have seized both the accident-involved car and motorcycle and registered a case. An investigation is underway to ascertain the exact cause of the accident and to trace the absconding car driver.
