Pathetic Condition of Biju Expressway: Pothole-Ridden Stretch at Tangaripada Awaits Urgent Repairs

Boden, July 4 The Biju Expressway, which was envisioned as a symbol of fast and safe transportation, has now become a cause of serious concern near Tangaripada under Karlakot Gram Panchayat in Boden Block of Nuapada district. Large potholes that have developed at several locations on the road have made daily commuting extremely hazardous, forcing motorists and passengers to travel at considerable risk. The situation has worsened with the onset of the monsoon. Rainwater accumulated in the potholes makes it difficult for commuters to judge their depth, significantly increasing the chances of road accidents. Two-wheeler riders are particularly vulnerable, while drivers of both light and heavy vehicles are compelled to navigate the damaged stretch with extreme caution. According to local residents, several minor and major accidents have already occurred on this road, yet the issue has failed to receive the attention it deserves from the authorities. Hundreds of vehicles use this stretch of the Biju Expressway every day. However, its deteriorating condition has become a major source of inconvenience and concern for commuters. Residents allege that despite repeated demands for repairs over a long period, the authorities have offered little more than assurances, with no permanent solution implemented so far. With the monsoon season underway, locals have urged the district administration and the concerned department to immediately inspect the road and undertake permanent repair work before a major tragedy occurs. Residents have appealed to the authorities to act proactively, emphasizing that preventive action should be taken before, rather than after, a serious accident claims lives.
