Seized Narcotic Substances Destroyed; Public Urged to Support a Drug-Free Society
Khariar, July 1
In a significant step towards strengthening the anti-drug campaign and promoting a drug-free society, the Khariar Police in Nuapada district organized a special programme on the occasion of the State-level Drug-Free Campaign.
As part of the programme, narcotic substances seized in various criminal cases were destroyed in accordance with the prescribed legal procedures after the completion of all statutory formalities.
According to police officials, the destruction of the seized contraband reflects the department’s zero-tolerance policy against the illegal trade and abuse of narcotic substances. The initiative also serves as a strong warning to those involved in drug trafficking and related offences.
Speaking on the occasion, police officials emphasized that drug abuse is a serious threat not only to an individual’s health but also to families, society, and the future of the younger generation. They stressed that building a drug-free society requires the active participation of the public alongside law enforcement agencies.
The police appealed to citizens to stay away from narcotic substances, encourage young people to adopt a healthy lifestyle, and promptly report any information regarding illegal drug trafficking to the police.
The initiative has been widely appreciated by local residents, who described it as a positive and timely step towards curbing drug abuse and creating a safer, healthier, and drug-free society.
