Nuapada Youth Sets Off on Bicycle Journey to Kedarnath

Devananda Majhi Promotes Patriotism, Environmental Awareness and the Fit India Mission Khariar, June 27 Demonstrating that determination, unwavering faith and spiritual devotion can make even the most difficult goals achievable, 20-year-old Devananda Majhi of Gorlapada village under Kirikita Gram Panchayat in Khariar block of Nuapada district has embarked on a challenging bicycle expedition to the sacred Kedarnath Dham, inspiring people across the region. The son of Jayanti Majhi, Devananda had long cherished the dream of reaching Kedarnath on a bicycle. After months of physical training and mental preparation, he has finally set out to turn his dream into reality. According to Devananda, the journey is not limited to a pilgrimage. Through this expedition, he aims to spread the message of patriotism, environmental conservation, health awareness, the Fit India movement, and inspire young people to adopt a disciplined and positive lifestyle. An emotional yet enthusiastic farewell ceremony was organised in Gorlapada village before the journey began. Villagers honoured Devananda with flower garlands and traditional scarves, wishing him success on his spiritual mission. Family members performed traditional rituals, applied a ceremonial tilak on his forehead, and offered prayers for his safe and successful journey. Special prayers were also offered to Lord Shiva for the smooth completion of the pilgrimage. A large number of villagers, including elders, youths and women, gathered to encourage the young cyclist. They praised his courage, determination and self-confidence, expressing hope that he would successfully reach Kedarnath and return home safely. Local residents said that at a time when many youngsters are increasingly occupied with mobile phones and social media, Devananda’s decision to undertake a long-distance bicycle journey carrying messages of patriotism, spirituality and environmental awareness is truly inspiring. They believe his initiative will motivate many young people to embrace discipline, hard work and a healthy lifestyle. Devananda’s remarkable bicycle expedition has created a sense of pride and excitement across the region. Villagers expressed confidence that he will complete the challenging journey successfully and return home safely, bringing honour not only to his village but also to the entire Nuapada district.
