Sinapali, June 25 The two-day “Sinapali Cricket Cup (Night Circle Tournament)”, organized at the PM Shri High School Ground in Sinapali town of Nuapada district on June 23 and 24, concluded successfully on Wednesday. Teams from various parts of Nuapada and Kalahandi districts participated in the unique night cricket extravaganza, showcasing thrilling performances throughout the tournament. The event commenced with a traditional soil-worship ceremony dedicated to the village deity, Maa Mahulagochhen. The inaugural function was attended by Jagannath Temple Management Committee Secretary and senior educationist Tulsiram Meher, along with Priyaranjan Meher and Rajani Majhi, who emphasized the importance of sportsmanship and youth development. The organizers ensured a memorable experience through attractive lighting arrangements, quality food facilities for players, and a comfortable environment for spectators. Intellectuals, educationists, sports lovers, former athletes, sports analysts, players, and local residents were invited to witness the event. A large gathering of spectators over the two days added enthusiasm and excitement to the tournament. For the successful conduct of the tournament, a committee was formed with Chittaranjan Meher (Jaga) as President, Vidyadhar Sahu (Shailesh) as Secretary, Bindu Sagar Meher and Dushmanta Sahu as Vice-Presidents, Sanjeeb Bhakta Meher and Dhananjaya Meher as Joint Secretaries, Sachin Joshi as Treasurer, Sohan Meher as Assistant Treasurer, and Trinath Meher and Priyaranjan Meher as Chief Coordinators. The tournament received major sponsorship support from Vijay Bansal, proprietor of Bansal Traders, while tent arrangements were managed by Ranjay Das of Das Tent House. All matches were live-streamed by OK Crik YouTube Channel. Videography was handled by Montu Barik and Sritam Sahu, while Birendra Meher and Ghenu Bandichhor prepared the pitch. Food arrangements were managed by Krishna Sahu, Roshan, and Dushmanta Chinda. Several individuals, including Kailash Meher, Dhananjaya Sahu, Sushanta Meher, Hem Sagar Meher, Rakesh Gahir, Rahul Gahir, Bhagyaban Soni, Binu Majhi, Rinku Rajput, Suman Meher, Samir Sahu, and Suresh Sahis, contributed significantly to the successful organization of the event. The closing ceremony was attended by Hridananda Meher, Bharat Bag, Prasanna Kumar Majhi (President, Sinapali Block Teachers’ Association), former BJP District President Subrata Thakur, Pradyumna Singh Chinda, former UYC President Suraj Meher, teacher Rajanikanta Majhi, PM Shri High School Headmaster Manoranjan Meher, chief sponsor Vijay Bansal, Samiti Union President Manish Patel, Piyush Patel, Rising Sun Public School founder Rajesh Agrawal, journalists Jagannath Sagar and Jhasaketan Rana, and social worker Buddhadev Raju Meher, among others. In the grand finale, Karangamal emerged as champions and received the championship trophy along with a cash prize of ₹15,000. The trophy was presented by Trinath Meher on behalf of SSKP and Radio Swara Sangam 90.8 FM. Kashibahal finished as runners-up and received the runners-up trophy along with a cash prize of ₹10,000, presented on behalf of former UYC President Suraj Meher. In the individual awards category, Santosh of Karangamal won both the Man of the Series and Man of the Match (Final) awards. The Man of the Series trophy was presented by Kishore Meher, proprietor of Anand Bhavan, while the Final Man of the Match trophy was presented by Riyaz Bhai Sumra. Rahul of Karlapada was awarded Best Batsman, while Santosh of Karangamal received the Best Bowler award. The Best Bowler trophy was presented by Mahendra Behera. Dhaneswar Kand was honored as the Best Offline Scorer, with the award presented by Naresh Kumar Meher. Narendra Kumar Naik was recognized as the Best Commentator, receiving the trophy from Happy Agrawal. The lively and entertaining commentary by Souri Ranjan Sahu, Binay Sahu, Narendra Naik, and Tejaraj Thakur kept the audience engaged throughout the tournament. At the end of the event, members of the Jai Jagannath Journalists’ Association congratulated the organizing committee for conducting the tournament successfully. With its excellent management, massive public participation, and high-quality cricketing action, Sinapali Cricket Cup 2026 has been widely regarded as one of the most memorable sporting festivals in the region.
