Youth Rally and Human Chain Organised in Nuapada to Promote a Drug-Free Society

On the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking 2026, a massive youth rally and human chain programme was organized in Nuapada through the joint initiative of the District Social Security and Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities Department and the Excise Department.
The programme commenced at 7:00 AM from the premises of the District Collector’s Office, where Collector and District Magistrate Madhusudan Das flagged off the youth rally. The rally proceeded from the Collectorate to Ekata Chowk, spreading awareness against drug abuse and illegal trafficking.
A human chain was later formed from Ekata Chowk to the Collector’s Office, conveying a strong message in support of a drug-free society and community awareness against substance abuse.
During the rally, participants raised various awareness slogans highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction, the need to curb illegal drug trafficking, and the importance of building a healthy and addiction-free society. The youth were urged to stay away from intoxicants and actively contribute towards creating a healthier and more progressive community.
The programme was attended by Chief Development Officer Lambodar Dharua, District Social Security Officer Ananta Hembram, district-level officials from various departments, teachers, students, and representatives of several voluntary organizations, who participated in large numbers and pledged their support for the anti-drug awareness campaign.
The event served as a significant step towards promoting social awareness and encouraging collective action against substance abuse in the district.
