Healthy Odisha Through Development: Health Camps Bring Essential Healthcare to Rural Communities

Sinapali, June 24 As part of the Odisha Government’s flagship initiative “Bikashara Dhara, Odisha Sara” (Development Across Odisha), large-scale health camps were successfully organized in the gram panchayats of Hatibandha, Ghantiguda, and Makhapadar, bringing vital healthcare services closer to rural residents and instilling a renewed sense of confidence and well-being among the people. The camps were aimed at ensuring doorstep healthcare delivery and extending the benefits of various government welfare schemes to every section of society. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from local residents who availed themselves of a range of health services and awareness programs. Under the leadership of Health Inspector Dhabaleswar Meher, health workers, Community Health Officers (CHOs), ASHA workers, and Anganwadi workers actively participated in the camps. Awareness sessions were conducted on various health-related schemes, disease prevention, nutrition, hygiene, and healthy living practices. During the programme, eligible beneficiaries were provided with Ayushman Cards and Bayobandana Cards, enabling them to access healthcare benefits under government schemes. Free health check-ups, including blood pressure and blood sugar tests, were conducted, while medical consultations and treatment for common ailments were also provided. Residents expressed appreciation for the government’s efforts to make quality healthcare accessible at the grassroots level. The camps not only addressed immediate healthcare needs but also strengthened awareness about preventive healthcare and public welfare initiatives. Several dignitaries attended the programmes held across different panchayats, including Subrata Thakur, Narayan Mangaraj, Markandeya Gahir, Ghantiguda Sarpanch Khuturam Sunami, Panchayat Development Officer Sanjay Mahanand, CDPO Urmila Mahapatra, Hatibandha Sarpanch Jayanti Behera, Simanchal Meher, Hiradhar Meher, Rajindra Jani, Makhapadar Sarpanch Ratne Tandi, and Tuleswar Bagarti. Addressing the gathering, the speakers emphasized that a healthy population forms the foundation of a strong society and a developed state. They highlighted the importance of public health awareness and praised the government’s continued efforts to strengthen healthcare services in rural areas. The successful organization of these health camps reflects the spirit of “Bikashara Dhara, Odisha Sara” and demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring that quality healthcare reaches even the remotest corners of the state.
